Background & Experience
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, born and raised in Bayview–Hunters Point, Katresa has a deep connection to the communities she serves. Bayview–Hunters Point, historically one of San Francisco’s most culturally rich yet underserved neighborhoods, has been a hub of Black resilience, activism, and community strength. Growing up in this environment, Katresa witnessed firsthand the challenges that systemic inequities and limited mental health resources create for Black families. Her lived experience fuels her passion for making mental health care accessible, culturally responsive, and empowering for those who need it most.
With over 20 years of experience, Katresa has worked in education, social services, and mental health, serving as a school counselor, dean of students, family advocate, social worker, and licensed therapist. She has provided mental health support to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, guiding them through trauma healing, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
Her clinical expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Strengths-Based Therapy. She specializes in treating issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship struggles, and intergenerational trauma, with a strong focus on Black mental health and emotional intelligence development.
